About

The Arc de Triomphe stands proudly at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, commemorating those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806, its design is inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I, with an eternal flame that is rekindled every evening. The monument is adorned with intricate sculptures depicting key moments from French history and allegorical figures representing victory and peace. Visitors can climb to the top of the arch for breathtaking panoramic views of Paris, including the Champs-Élysées, the Eiffel Tower, and the twelve avenues radiating from Place de l'Étoile. It's a powerful symbol of French national pride and history.
