Barra da Tijuca, often simply called Barra, is Rio's newest and fastest-growing neighborhood, known for its long, pristine beaches and modern infrastructure. It hosted a significant portion of the 2016 Olympic Games. Barra offers a more contemporary and less crowded atmosphere than the South Zone, with plenty of shopping malls, restaurants, and watersports activities.
