The Bunkers del Carmel offer arguably the most spectacular panoramic views of Barcelona, making them one of the city's best-kept secrets turned popular viewpoint. Perched atop the Turó de la Rovira hill, these former anti-aircraft bunkers were built during the Spanish Civil War (1937-1938) to defend the city from bombings. After the war, the area became a shantytown until the 1990s, before being revitalized as a historical site and public viewpoint. What makes the Bunkers so special is their unobstructed 360-degree vista. From this elevated position, you can see virtually the entire city, from the Sagrada Familia and Tibidabo to the Olympic Port and the distant Mediterranean Sea. It's an ideal spot for witnessing breathtaking sunrises or, more famously, stunning sunsets, as the city lights begin to twinkle below. While there are no official facilities, the concrete platforms and remnants of the bunkers provide ample space to sit and soak in the views. It requires a bit of a climb, accessible by foot or bus (H2, V17, or 24, followed by a walk), but the reward is more than worth the effort. It's a fantastic spot for photography, picnicking, or simply enjoying a peaceful yet expansive perspective of Barcelona away from the bustling crowds.
