About

Budapest's Central Market Hall, or Nagycsarnok, is the grandest and oldest indoor market in the city. Located at the Liberty Bridge, this architectural marvel, designed by Samu Pecz, opened in 1897 and boasts an impressive Neo-Gothic roof structure covered with colorful Zsolnay tiles. The ground floor is a bustling hub for fresh produce, meats, pastries, and spices, including paprika in countless varieties. The basement level offers a supermarket, fishmongers, and a variety of pickled goods. Upstairs, visitors can find souvenirs, handicrafts, clothing, and food stalls serving traditional Hungarian dishes. It's a vibrant sensory experience, offering a glimpse into local life and culinary traditions, making it a must-visit for foodies and shoppers alike.
