About

The East Side Gallery is a 1,316 meter long section of the Berlin Wall located near the center of Berlin on Mühlenstrasse in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. It is the longest open-air gallery in the world and consists of 105 paintings by artists from all over the world, painted in 1990 on the east side of the Berlin Wall. The gallery is considered a monument to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the joy of a reunited Germany. Many of the paintings comment on political events of 1989 and 1990. Since 2009, the East Side Gallery has been under renovation to preserve its historical and artistic value. Visitors can stroll along the entire length of the gallery, admiring the diverse artworks and reflecting on the significant historical events they represent. It's an emotionally charged and highly symbolic place.
