About

Elisabeth Bridge, or Erzsébet híd, is a modern and elegant white suspension bridge spanning the Danube, connecting Ferenciek tere in Pest with Döbrentei tér in Buda. It's named after Queen Elisabeth, the popular Sisi. The original ornate chain bridge was destroyed in WWII, and the current, simpler structure was completed in 1964. It is the only bridge in Budapest that was not rebuilt in its original form after the war. While less ornate than other Budapest bridges, its clean lines and bright appearance make it a distinctive landmark, offering pleasant views of the river and cityscapes.
