About

The Jardin du Luxembourg, or Luxembourg Gardens, is a vast public park located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. Commissioned by Marie de' Medici in 1612, it is a serene oasis of greenery and a beloved spot for both Parisians and visitors. The gardens are particularly known for the beautiful Palais du Luxembourg, which now houses the French Senate. The gardens feature manicured lawns, tree-lined promenades, colorful flowerbeds, and over 100 statues, including a scaled-down version of the Statue of Liberty. The central Grand Bassin, a large octagonal pond, is a popular spot for children to sail model boats. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll, sit on the iconic green metal chairs, or watch a game of tennis or chess. It's a perfect place to relax, have a picnic, or simply soak in the Parisian atmosphere, providing a refreshing escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
