Jeanneke Pis

Jeanneke Pis is a modern fountain sculpture located in Brussels, Belgium. Created in 1987 by Denis-Adrien Debouvrie, it serves as the female counterpart to the city's much more famous and older Manneken Pis statue. The statue depicts a little girl squatting and urinating, and while it doesn't hold the same historical significance or international fame as its male equivalent, it has become a quirky and often-visited tourist attraction. It is tucked away in the Impasse de la Fidélité/Getrouwheidsgang, an alleyway just off Rue des Bouchers. The alley is also notable for housing the Delirium Café, a well-known bar with a vast selection of beers. Jeanneke Pis, along with Manneken Pis and the lesser-known Zinneke Pis (a urinating dog), forms a trio of peeing statues across Brussels. These whimsical figures provide a lighthearted and unique glimpse into Belgian culture and a slightly irreverent sense of humor. Visitors often seek out all three for a complete 'pee trail' experience. Despite its relatively recent origin, Jeanneke Pis has embraced the tradition of being dressed in various outfits, similar to Manneken Pis, though these changes are less frequent.
