About

The Meguro Parasitological Museum is a remarkably unique institution, being the only museum in the world dedicated entirely to the study of parasites. It offers a fascinating, albeit sometimes unsettling, deep dive into the diverse and often strange world of these organisms, showcasing a vast and intriguing collection of specimens. Established in 1953, the museum aims to promote public understanding and awareness of parasites and parasitic diseases. Its two floors of exhibits display a wide array of preserved parasite specimens, ranging from microscopic organisms to a stunning 8.8-meter-long tapeworm extracted from a human body. Educational panels, diagrams, and models provide detailed information on the life cycles, hosts, and impacts of various parasites on both humans and animals. While some exhibits might be a bit graphic for the faint of heart, the museum offers an incredibly informative and memorable experience, proving that even the most niche subjects can be captivating. There's also a gift shop where you can buy novelty parasite-themed souvenirs.
