About

The Musée de l'Orangerie is an art gallery of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, located in the western end of the Tuileries Garden, adjacent to the Place de la Concorde. It is most famous for housing Claude Monet's monumental 'Water Lilies' (Nymphéas) series. Monet's eight large panels are displayed in two oval rooms, designed specifically to present the works as an immersive, panoramic cycle. This creates a tranquil and meditative experience, allowing visitors to be enveloped by the changing light and reflections of his beloved Giverny garden. In addition to Monet's masterpiece, the museum also features the Walter-Guillaume Collection, which includes works by other notable artists such as Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, and Soutine. The Musée de l'Orangerie offers a peaceful and intimate encounter with some of the most celebrated works of modern art.
