The National Museum of Oman is the Sultanate's flagship cultural institution, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the heritage of Oman from the earliest human settlement to the present day. Opened in 2016, it is housed in a purpose-built, architecturally impressive building. The museum features 14 permanent galleries that cover diverse themes including maritime history, the Land and the People, Arms and Armour, Civilisation in the Making, and Intangible Heritage. Its extensive collection includes over 7,000 objects, many of which are displayed with interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, and state-of-the-art technology. Visitors can delve deep into Oman's rich history, exploring ancient artifacts, traditional costumes, and significant historical documents. The museum provides an enriching and comprehensive overview of the nation's culture, history, and development.
