About

Place de la Concorde is the largest public square in Paris, strategically located between the Tuileries Garden and the beginning of the Champs-Élysées. It's a place steeped in history, having been the site of many significant events, most notably public executions during the French Revolution, including that of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. At its center stands the magnificent Luxor Obelisk, an ancient Egyptian obelisk gifted to France in the 19th century, flanked by two monumental fountains representing maritime and fluvial navigation. The square is adorned with eight statues representing French cities. Today, Place de la Concorde is a bustling traffic hub, but it retains its grandeur and provides stunning vistas, connecting several of Paris's most famous landmarks. Its historical significance and architectural beauty make it an essential stop for anyone exploring the city.
