St Alfege Church is a beautiful and historically significant church, rebuilt by Nicholas Hawksmoor after the original medieval church was destroyed. It stands on the spot where Archbishop Alfege was martyred in 1012. The church is the burial place of Thomas Tallis, a renowned Tudor composer, and also where Henry VIII was baptised.
