The Atomium is an iconic landmark located in Brussels, Belgium, originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo 58). Designed by engineer André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak, it represents a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. This futuristic structure, composed of nine stainless steel clad spheres connected by tubes, stands as a symbol of scientific progress and the Atomic Age. Visitors can explore several of the spheres, which house permanent and temporary exhibitions focusing on science, design, and the history of the Atomium itself. The upper sphere offers breathtaking panoramic views of Brussels and the surrounding areas, making it a popular spot for photography and sightseeing. Escalators and a lift transport guests between the various levels, providing a unique and engaging architectural experience.
