About

Largo di Torre Argentina is a significant archaeological site in Rome, featuring the ruins of four Roman temples dating back to the Republican era (4th-2nd century BC) and the remains of Pompey's Curia, where Julius Caesar was assassinated. The excavated area, which was once part of a larger sacred precinct, sits below modern street level. Visitors can observe the ruins from above or, more recently, enter a newly accessible path within the site. Beyond its historical importance, Largo di Torre Argentina is famously known for its thriving cat sanctuary, where hundreds of stray cats are cared for amidst the ancient stones, adding a unique charm to the site.
