About

Palazzo Barberini is one of Rome's most splendid Baroque palaces, housing the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica (National Gallery of Ancient Art). It was designed by three of the greatest Baroque architects: Carlo Maderno, Francesco Borromini, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The museum hosts one of the most important art collections in Italy, featuring masterpieces from the 13th to the 18th century. Highlights include Raphael's 'La Fornarina', Caravaggio's 'Judith Beheading Holofernes', and works by Holbein, Titian, and El Greco. The palace itself is an artwork, with its grand staircase by Bernini and the magnificent fresco of 'The Triumph of Divine Providence' by Pietro da Cortona in the main salon. A visit offers a deep dive into Italian art history within a stunning setting.
