Real Jardín Botánico

The Real Jardín Botánico (Royal Botanical Garden) is a historic botanical garden located near the Prado Museum in Madrid. Established in 1755 by order of King Ferdinand VI, it was later relocated to its current site in 1781 by King Charles III, with a design by Francesco Sabatini and Juan de Villanueva. The garden spans eight hectares and is a living museum of plant diversity. It features diverse plant collections arranged in a beautiful, formal layout, including terraces and greenhouses housing species from around the world. The garden is divided into three main terraces showcasing ornamental plants, aromatic plants, and a collection of trees and shrubs. It also boasts significant collections of bonsais and carnivorous plants. The Real Jardín Botánico serves as both a scientific research center and a tranquil haven for visitors.
