About

Red Beach, or Kokkini Paralia as it's known locally, is one of Santorini's most famous and spectacular beaches. Its unique beauty comes from the striking red and black volcanic pebbles and the towering red lava cliffs that plunge into the clear blue Aegean Sea. The beach is often accessed via a short, somewhat steep walking path from the parking area, which adds to its adventurous appeal. While the sand isn't soft, the dramatic scenery and unique color palette make it a must-see for many visitors to the island. Due to rockfall risks from the surrounding cliffs, visitors should be mindful of where they set up. Despite this, it remains a popular spot for sunbathing, swimming, and especially snorkeling, as the clear waters offer good visibility of the underwater volcanic landscape.
